Welcome
QWOC+ Boston is a group that promotes diversity by creating and sustaining safe spaces for LGBT people of color in the Greater Boston area.

From a QWOC in Japan: “I have learned that I cannot do it on my own and that as much as I perhaps took credit for what I knew and what I learned, I realize that I always had a constant source of support to fall back on. Now that these friends – my family – are many miles away, I am left to navigate this world, for the first time, as a true outsider.”

Play our Facebook Sweepstakes for FREE Tickets to OPTIONZ or ROOTS during Pride

Posted By QWOC+ Boston on May 7th, 2010

Wanna win free tix to OPTIONZ: 4th Annual Pride Party from Queer Women of Color and Friends or ROOTS: Dance for LGBT Human Rights in Africa? Then it’s time to Join the Conversation!

You can do this in one of two ways:

Option A) Each week leading up to pride, we will randomly select two (2) QWOC+ Boston Fans – who respond (thoughtfully) to our daily questions and/or status updates tagged with “#DiversitySpeaks” –  to win a FREE “Dynamic Duo” Ticket to either of our pride parties! The catch is, only certain questions/discussion topics could potentially enter you into the random drawing — and we won’t tell you which ones they are 8-) SO, in order to increase your chances of winning a FREE “Dynamic Duo” Ticket to one of our pride events, we encourage you to respond to ALL the #DiversitySpeaks discussion topics on the DAILY!

Option B) As an alternative to Option A, everyone who “tags” either our OPTIONZ: 4th Annual Pride Party from Queer Women of Color and Friends or ROOTS: Dance for LGBT Human Rights in Africa FB event in their status updates (using the “@” sign) — with a comment inviting people or discussing the event in general — will be entered into a raffle to WIN ONE OF TWO “Sizzling Single” Tickets that week. Unlike Option A, tagging either OPTIONZ or ROOTS FB events at ANY point during the weekly cycle will enter you into the raffle drawing for that week.

That’s not too hard, is it? Oh come on, you’re on facebook all the time, anyway! You’ve got nothing to lose, and multiple pride tickets to WIN!

Things to Note:

1) The length of your response will NOT increase your chances of winning. Be short and poignant, or move us with paragraphs of rhetoric — all that matters is that the words you’re using are yours, plain enough to understand, and represent YOUR perspectives/opinions.
2) Comments that are rude/offensive in response to others will NOT be considered.
3) No one user can win more than twice within the same category during this contest (e.g. if you’re lucky enough to win twice – on two different occasions – using Option A, you will be ineligible to win again in Option A, for the rest of the contest)

4) No one user can win in both categories during the same week (i.e you can’t be a winner using both Option A and B in the same week)
5) This contest is another way for us to tap into our community and augment the many voices that are represented (on FB at least); so Be Yourself. At the end of the day, it’s YOU we wanna get to know better.

Are you ready to play the FB Diversity Speaks Sweepstakes?

They begin NOW! We’re halfway through the week already so your chances of winning are higher than usual. Remember, each time you comment, you could be entered into a random drawing to win free tickets to OPTIONZ: 4th Annual Pride Party from Queer Women of Color and Friends or ROOTS: Dance for LGBT Human Rights in Africa during Boston Pride week!

Invite your Friends to “Like” (formerly, Become Fans) of Queer Women of Color and Friends so they can play too!
