What Comes to Mind When You Hear the Phrase “LGBT Movement”?

Posted By QWOC+ Boston on March 22nd, 2010

QWOC+ Boston posed this question on our Facebook Fan Page in preparation for a session we’re hosting THIS weekend at Join the Impact’s LGBT Regional Rights conference in Somerville, MA.

We’ve gotten some very frank and insightful comments already, and are excited about keeping the conversation going. We encourage you to share your thoughts by leaving a comment on our Facebook page, or discussing your thoughts via the #qwoc hashtag on Twitter!

Our session on the (Lack of) Inclusion of Communities of Color and Different Cultures in the LGBTQI Movement will explore the themes you bring up via a fishbowl conversation, and will be followed by an open discussion during which we will seek (from all of you), actionable ideas for progress and social change.

Help us spread the word about (and prepare for) this ground-breaking, locally-organized conference by:

  • Sharing this post on Facebook/Myspace/Downelink/Twitter
  • Blogging about it
  • Participating in an online discussion about it*
  • Emailing / talking to your friends about it in person!

*What words, phrases, or images come to mind when you see the phrase “LGBT Movement”? Discuss on QWOC+ Boston’s Facebook page or Twitter (use the #qwoc hashtag)

More details about the conference can be found on their website: http://www.jointheimpactma.com/
